Izzie's First Halloween

For Halloween we dressed Izzie up in a pea pod costume and took her out for our usual Sunday walk during trick-or-treat. She slept the whole walk! I am sure in a few years that will not be the case when there is candy involved. My sister watched Izzie last Friday night and Adam and I went out on a date. When my sister watches her she love to do photo shoots. This time she had her out in the yard with all the leaves. She could not get a good pictures because Izzie kept looking down and eating all the leaves. If you need leaf clean-up give us a call and Izzie can come over and take care of them!

30th Birthday

So I turned the big 30 on Tuesday and celebrated my birthday last night with a surprise party. Adam had me thinking we were going out to dinner for our 5th wedding anniversary (which was on Friday) but when I walked into Wolf Creek Winery there were friends and family to surprise me. I really had no idea. My mom was so proud of herself for not spilling the beans to me! We were outside on the patio which was a little chilly but had lots of great food and drinks. They do not have a restaurant there so you get to bring in your own food which was fun. My sister knocked herself out again with all kinds of treats. It was a great 30th birthday. Now I have to come up with something really good for Adam's 30th birthday in December. Any ideas...

Izzie Is 6 Months

Izzie is 6 months old now (as of last Wednesday) and boy does time fly. She had her check-up and shots today at the doctor. She is up to 14lbs even and 24 1/2 inches long. Still in the 20% range for weight and height. She has been sitting up on her own for about a month now grabbing everything in sight to put in her mouth. We started feeding her baby food about 2 weeks ago and she is starting to get the hang of it now. I am making all of her food which I am really enjoying. I have made sweet potatoes, squash, pears, peaches, and bananas so far. It saves a ton of money and I like knowing what she is eating.
Below are a few pictures of our little buddy.
Aunt Mimi watched Izzie a few weeks ago and did a photo shoot with her. Here are a few of the pictures she took that night.
Look out ANTM.

Cold and Other Stuff

Izzie has her first cold:( She has not been herself today because of it. I think she is also teething, so that just adds to her fussiness.

My grandma's 80th birthday was yesterday so we all went down to Coshocton for her party. We meet for lunch at Ravens Glen Winery and then went back to her house for cake and ice cream. 9 out of her 10 kids were able to make it plus a bunch of grandkids and great grandkids. Below are some pictures from the day.

The garden just started slowing down the other day. I have been a canning machine the past few weeks. Adam even made salsa and canned it on Saturday. Tomorrow I am going to start making Izzie her baby food and freezing it. I bought some sweet potatoes and a butternut squash to start with. We are going to start feeding her food sometime soon.

Izzie got a new jumper that the Battles were done using. She is hysterical in it and loves it. Thanks Grace and Lydia.

Check out my flickr page to see a video of her in action!

I other news...Adam's sister Sarah and brother-in-law Troy had their first baby on Tuesday. Welcome Malachi Troy Sonnleitner!!! He is the first grandson on Adam's side of the family. The picture is of Grandpa Ed and Malachi.

Dumb and Annoying Products

My sister sent me a forward yesterday, which I typically do not read, but this one was great. It was from a lady writing to Always (monthly friend pads) in regards to the marketing campaign "Have a Happy Period." Whoever came up with that slogan must have been a man. The last thing a girl wants to see when using a monthly friend product is it to say on the package "Have a Happy Period." There is nothing happy about your monthly friend. WTF marketing people, dumb!

For those of you who have made formula bottles, you know about the little measuring scoop that comes with each container. Well, how annoying is it when they bury the scoop almost all of the way at the bottom of the container, WTF. Lucky I have outsmarted them and saved a scoop from a previous container, annoying!

Long Time

A lot has been going on since my last post, so here is a run down of a few things. Adam went on a fishing trip to Canada the last week of July. He went with a bunch of guys from his family and had a ton of fun relaxing and fishing all day. I have a new respect for single parents!!!
While Adam was on his trip I spent one of the weekends in New York for his sister Sarah's baby shower. Adam's brother Jerry and family got to see Izzie for the first time. The drive up was not bad and we only had to stop once to feed Izzie. The drive home by myself was another story. It is about a 5 hour drive and I had to stop 6 times before the half way point.

Right after Adam got back from his trip, my cousin Rebecca got married in Columbus. We spent Saturday and Sunday there hanging out with my dad's side of the family.

I know this is gross, but I could not resist posting this picture of Izzie. I call it "oops I crapped my pants." Last night while Adam was at his last softball game, Izzie had a blowout in her pants! She has done this one other time and it is a 2 person job to clean her up. However Adam was not home so I had to take a picture of what he missed. More respect for single parents!

Izzie started to roll over a little last week! I can not believe how fast she is growing. At her four month check-up two weeks ago she was 23 inches and 11lb 8oz. She is looking more and more like Adam everyday!

Garden

Last night we got to enjoy the fruits or should I say "veggies of our labor." I made a stir-fry with the broccoli and sugar snap peas from our garden. There is nothing like just picked fresh veggies. We have also been enjoying lettuce and cucumbers. I am really excited for my gray pumpkins this year. I have one growing so far that is about as big as my fist. Yah for gardens and a husband who enjoys to garden (he does 99% of the work).
